"Entrapment crushes me, pressured soul
Devoured by my own passion's maw
In this cold infinite I am torn
Surrounded by option, the city of stone
Now the abyss calls my name
Within this chaotic void, I wither alone
Just like a dog with three legs, I struggle to stay above
I hear the voices of failure
I feel the pressure upon me
Pressing down into me, pressing down
Pressing down into me, I feel the weight
(Entrapment) Pressing down (pressured soul) into me
(By my own) Pressing down (passion's maw)
Pressing down into me, I am restrained
To stand up, to push against the stone
Wonder aimless, forlorn being, constant migrant seeking purpose
Pushing against this monument, I am forever struggling"

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74

Totally unique, like if Godflesh and Krallice formed a band but then also asked that dude from PHOBOS to play drums. Super dissonant yet also kinda quite groovy, the songs almost abstract jams but then there will be some headcutting riff that runs you over with its massive brutality. Vocals sound appropriately deadly and possibly evil like water moccasins. Jono Schneider

What an impressive release, no surprise the album is that good. Just like its successor, maybe even more so, ΨΥΧΙΚΗ ΑΠΟΣΥΝΘΕΣΗ (Mental Decay) manages living up to its name. There is a malign, threatening presence oozing out between the riffs and the atmospheric parts at all times, evoking the feeling of constantly and slowly rotting away mentally, losing grip of ones consciousness more and more. I.A. did a masterful job here, constructing a terrifying journey into delirium. David Fischer
